Another great cyclocross session this evening at King Henry School. 18 there this week - very hard, but great fun and a lovely atmosphere, apart from people being scarily competitive Paul Llewelyn Crapper Claire Bowen and a few more! What about giving an old man a chance? Thanks Barrie Whitehead. Barrie can't make next week so Steven Roach will lead, same time, same place.

The Welsh Cyclo-cross League starts this Sunday with the Calf-burner Cross in the grounds of Llantarnam School, Cwmbran (NP44 3XB) Cyclo-cross is off-road cycle racing on grass and tracks, up and down banks, on a circuit of up to one mile in length. It is usually held in public parks or on sports fields and is technically and physically less demanding than mountain-biking. Anyone can enter no matter what their age, ability or bike, provided they have a helmet and their bike is in good working order. There is a category for everyone and separate races for younger riders. Abergavenny Road Club riders traditionally do very well at Cyclo-cross so it will be great if as many members as possible compete in club kit. Race times Under 8s: 10.15am for 9mins Under 10s: 10.30am for 12mins Under 12s: 10.45am for 15mins Youths/Novice Women: 11.15am for 25mins Seniors/Juniors/Veterans/Women: 12.15pm for 50mins The duration of the races may change depending on the conditions
